Make your wedding your own: Infusing personal experiences into your wedding

On your big day, you want it to be special, unique, your own. And how better to do that than by infusing your own personal experiences into your wedding? By including meaningful details from your life, you can create a personalized experience for yourself, your partner and your guests.

And here’s how:

Venue

You don’t always have to opt for the fanciest or most expensive venue. Sometimes, sentimental value can be far more meaningful. If you and your partner share fond memories of travelling to beaches or walking along the shoreline, then maybe a beach wedding would work for you. A favourite bar or restaurant you frequent with each other and friends could be perfect too. More people around the world are having their weddings in unconventional places, and we love it! It’s a great way to infuse something from your personal life into your wedding and really make it extra special for everyone. You get to be in a place that you love with people you love, what more could you want?

Music

Whether you’re putting together a playlist, or hiring a Dj or band, being able to add a little bit of yourself into the music is imperative. Music sets the mood for your wedding, or any event for that matter, so make sure it’s music that you love and want to share with your guests. The songs you choose to play will dictate how your wedding runs and its pace. It can also send a message to your guests and say something about yourself. The songs you play don’t necessarily have to be  romantic classics or typical wedding songs, this is where you can really add a part of yourself into the wedding and make it your own. Choose songs you like, songs that mean something to you and your partner. Don’t be confined to the conventional song choices, make this special, make it about you. Play songs that you enjoy, that you dance to, that you sing along to! You can even work with a band to create your own unique tunes for your special day. Something that will be uniquely you.

Decor

If you don’t like flowers, you definitely don’t have to cover the room in them! It’s your wedding, make sure even the smallest details are things which reflect your personality and what you like! You can even include details from your childhood if that’s something that is important to you. Don’t be held back by whether the colours fit the colour scheme, don’t be afraid to mix it up! If something over-the-top and colourful is what you like, go ahead and fill the room with multi-coloured balloons!

Point is, it’s your wedding. If you include aspects of yourself and your personality in it, it’ll be more fun for everyone!
