As part of Vocalise10, our director, Ziline will be sharing her thoughts and experience running the company thus far.
Many a time I have been questioned, is Vocalise an agency or an artistes management company? We are definitely the latter. But what is the difference between the two?
At Vocalise, we pride ourselves in understanding the needs of our clients as well as the abilities of our musicians, thus matching the two accordingly. We will convey the client’s requests to the artistes and make sure that the requirements are met, with all preparations made prior to the event. For example, if our string quartet is booked, we will make sure rehearsals are scheduled prior to the event, to ensure that quality is delivered for the event.
We are always the first to arrive and last to leave. It is our job to ensure that the equipment requested is provided for the artistes prior to their arrival and that the artistes arrive on time for the sound check or performance. If there are any schedule changes to the event flow, it will be our responsibility to convey these to the artistes and make the necessary arrangements.
During the performance, we will ensure that the musicians are sounding their best by working with the sound crew.
To me, only if the audience and clients enjoy the performance staged, that’s where I derive my satisfaction from. There are times where our musicians perform to 1000 pax, but everyone’s just busy eating and not watching them, I will leave feeling disappointed. The reason why I co-founded Vocalise, is because I believe Music makes a difference in Life.
So simply putting it, we do not just book the artistes (like an agency), we follow up with them till the end of the event, when they pack up and leave, that’s when our work ends.
Cheers,
Ziline
