The similarities between the Guitar and Ruan are uncanny – both being string instruments producing sounds of similar textures and pitch. It is no surpirse that the unifying of both create an experience unique to the two. 

Despite the stark difference visually, the Chinese ruan and the Western guitar  complement each other beautifully through evoking a sense of tranquility within the listener.
