CRIB Ball

CRIB is a Singapore-based social enterprise which aims to empower women to become successful entrepreneurs through networking, corporate matchmaking and incubation of business ideas. During their most recent CRIB Ball, our director, Ms. Ziline Chen, was part of the organizing committee as well as in charge of all entertainment aspects of the event.

The theme for the ball was ‘The Empress’s Journey along the Silk Road’. Following the historical cultural interaction between the merchants of the East and West, appropriate entertainment befitting of the theme had to be found. After some deliberation and discussion with the organizing committee, Ziline approached 6 experienced dancers to choreograph and perform vibrant pieces for the ball.

In addition to conceptualizing and choreographing the performances, costumes also had to be arranged for and fitted. The costumes included beautifully embroidered pieces as well as large props such as silk ribbons and gold wings. The dancers performed two sets featuring a contemporary twist on belly dance, and the oriental elegance of Chinese ribbon dance.
