Recently, Vocalise String Quartet was invited specially to play for an important state dinner at the Istana. The dinner was hosted by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong for Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith of Laos during his visit to Singapore. The Istana opened its doors to many distinguished guests, including important diplomats and businessmen from both Singapore and Laos. Only the best was presented to the guests at this event, and Vocalise was fortunate enough to be featured during this official state dinner.
The quartet played throughout the one-and-a-half-hour long dinner ceremony and kept the guests entertained with a wide array of pieces. The quartet not only played classical and jazz tunes, but also played specially arranged local songs from Singapore and Laos. Some very special pieces which were arranged by Vocalise’s arranger, include Home by Dick Lee Bach Cello Concerto, as well as Viva Di Tanjong Katong.
Vocalise is incredibly honored to have been invited to the Istana to play at this notable event for such distinguished guests.
