Our flagship quartet, VOX, was back at the Istana earlier this week to perform for an Official Dinner held in honour of Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s visit to Singapore.
VOX performed their signature pieces including Chasing Bach (Chasing Cars x Ave Maria) and Nocturne for U2 (Nocturne x With or Without You). The quartet also performed mashups of Singaporean favourites such as Home with Bach (Home x Cello Suite No. 1), Viva Di Tanjong Katong (Viva La Vida x Di Tanjong Katong), 小人物的心声 x This Old Man, Mediacorp Drama Medley (早安老师, 和平的代价, 双天至尊 & 小娘惹)
This was Prime Minister Orbán’s first trip to Singapore and signifies a reaffirmation in the bilateral ties between Singapore and Hungary. As such, our Director and First Violinist of VOX, Lester Kong, specially arranged a couple of Hungarian folk songs for this occassion which included Érik a szőlő and Hej Dunáról fúj a szél.
In the addition to 2 pieces, we also included other pieces in line with this event to our repertoire. These included Hungarian Dance No. 5, Hungarian Dance No. 8 and Liebestraum.
We could not be more honoured to be a part of this significant occasion.
