Birthday gig at Alkaff Mansion

On 6 September, Too Much Drama and Vocalise String Quartet (VSQ) was part of a Sweet 16 celebration held at the luxurious Alkaff Mansion, located at Telok Blangah Green.

Surrounded by beautiful lush greenery and large welcoming spaces, the distinctive European-style mansion was decorated with a large array of balloons. There were also long tables and chairs set up to accommodate guests, and a mini hut at the front where the cake cutting celebration later took place.

Set up at either side of the hut, both groups played three sets altogether. It was a birthday dinner, and each group brought something distinctly different to the table.

Too Much Drama sang a mixture of popular past and present hits like “Love Confession” and “Dancing with A Stranger”.  The band’s laidback style added edginess to the fun night, and they played as background music during the dinner celebration.

As the night went on, VSQ also performed familiar tunes like “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and “Tian Mi Mi”. The Quartet complimented the classy and elegant atmosphere of the venue, also serving as background music as guests chatted away.

The night ended with both groups collaborating to perform “Happy Birthday to You”.
